I was a little skeptical about this book when I ordered it, but after reading it I found that it contained sound advice for my two girls. Everything from what to do if your secret crush is revealed to what to do if you miss your ride or falling through ice. I was VERY impressed by this book and have recomended it to my other girlfriends.
This book i really like for my 9 y.o. It gives all kinds of scenarios that will or can occur and how to handle them, from if someone tells the boy you like, you like him, or how to handle if you have your cycle at school. I know, i was floored too but hey, its bound to happen. so i would really recommend this book.
It would be helpful if this "self-help" type book had a suggested age range. I had assumed that since it was from American Girl it would be appropriate for a nine year old but discovered that some of the material was inappropriate for younger than teenage girls.
I found that my daughter was coming home every night with "so & so did this" or "someone said that or did something." Having this book gave her a place to look and read about it and have some tools to handle the situation on her own the next day. It helped her tremendously.
Before your young lady starts Junior High School please add this litle book to her library. This books offers answers to the preteen on handling situations that could be potentially embarrassing. This book will help your child develop more self-assurance.
